How Is Digital Communication Changing the Way the Church Shares the Gospel?
Kairos Media Conclave 2026 brought Catholic communicators together to explore digital storytelling, technology and responsible how to share the Gospel in today’s changing online world effectively too.
The Kairos Media Conclave 2026 highlighted the growing importance of digital communication in the Church’s mission of evangelization, bringing together Catholic communicators to reflect on how technology can be used to share the Gospel with contemporary audiences. The conclave focused on the changing communication landscape and the opportunities created by digital platforms. Social media, online video, websites and other digital tools have become important channels through which people encounter information, ideas and faith-related content. The gathering encouraged participants to consider how these platforms can be used effectively while keeping communication responsible, meaningful and connected to the mission of the Church. Exploring New Digital Opportunities Digital communication has changed the way people consume and share information. For the Church, this provides opportunities to reach people who may not regularly encounter Christian content through traditional forms of communication. The conclave explored the importance of understanding digital audiences and communicating messages in formats that are accessible to people who spend significant amounts of time online. Participants reflected on the need for creativity and effective storytelling while maintaining accuracy, authenticity and a clear focus on the Gospel. Communication and Evangelization Evangelization in the digital age involves more than simply transferring traditional content to online platforms. It also requires understanding how people communicate, interact and form communities in digital spaces. The conclave highlighted the potential of digital media to support faith formation, outreach and dialogue. Catholic communicators were encouraged to explore ways of presenting Christian teachings through contemporary communication formats. At the same time, the discussions recognised the responsibility that comes with digital communication, particularly in an environment where information can spread rapidly. Responsible Use of Technology The growing influence of digital media also raises questions about responsible communication. Accuracy, respect, privacy, ethical storytelling and sensitivity remain important when producing and sharing content online. For Catholic communicators, these considerations are closely connected with the broader mission of communicating truth with respect and concern for human dignity. Looking Ahead Kairos Media Conclave 2026 provided an opportunity for Catholic communicators to reflect on how emerging technologies and digital platforms can support the Church’s evangelizing mission. The gathering also highlighted the importance of combining technological skills with thoughtful communication and a clear understanding of the purpose of evangelization. As digital platforms continue to evolve, the Church's communication efforts are likely to increasingly involve new forms of storytelling, video, social media and other online tools. The conclave therefore offered a space for participants to consider how the Church can remain present in the digital world while keeping its communication focused on faith, dialogue and the Gospel.
