CCBI Holds 100th Executive Committee Meeting in Bengaluru

The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) is holding its 100th Executive Committee Meeting at St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences in Bengaluru from September 15 to 16, 2026. The meeting brings together Metropolitan Archbishops and Bishops who serve as chairmen of various CCBI commissions, departments and apostolates. The gathering provides an opportunity for the Church’s leadership to review ongoing activities, discuss emerging concerns and take decisions concerning the life and mission of the Catholic Church in India. The CCBI Executive Committee meets twice a year, in May and September, in addition to the CCBI Plenary Assembly, which is held annually in January. During the two-day meeting, the bishops are discussing various issues and concerns affecting the Church and its pastoral mission across the country. They are also reviewing the work of different commissions, departments and apostolates and considering matters that require coordinated action and guidance. The 100th Executive Committee meeting marks an important milestone in the history of the CCBI. According to Catholic Connect, the meeting reflects the committee’s continuing role in consultation, coordination and decision-making within the Catholic Church in India. The deliberations are expected to lead to decisions and concrete directions concerning the Church’s pastoral, social and evangelising mission across the country.
