Around 3,000 faithful participated in the Diocese of Balasore’s annual commemoration on September 2 at the place where Father Doss was killed on September 1, 1999. Over the years, the gathering has developed into an important expression of faith and remembrance for Catholics in the region. He emphasized that the witness of a martyr can continue to inspire future generations in their Christian faith. A Life Dedicated to the Poor Father Arul Doss was born in Tamil Nadu and served as the pastor of Anandapur Catholic Church in Mayurbhanj for five years before his death. His ministry was particularly focused on tribal communities and people living in poverty and difficult circumstances. According to Church accounts, Father Doss was 35 years old when he was attacked and killed at Jambani village. His death came during a period of serious anti-Christian violence in Odisha.
