What Brought 66 Kurnool Priests Together for Spiritual Renewal?
Sixty-six Kurnool priests completed a five-day retreat centered on prayer, reflection and spiritual renewal, deepening their relationship with God and strengthening commitment to pastoral ministry.
Sixty-six priests from the Diocese of Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh gathered for a five-day spiritual retreat from September 21 to 25, 2026, seeking renewal in prayer, reflection and priestly ministry. The retreat was held at the diocesan pastoral centre and was led by Fr. Cyril Das, SVD. Through spiritual conferences and reflections, he encouraged the priests to deepen their relationship with God and renew their commitment to serving the people entrusted to their pastoral care. The retreat provided the priests with an opportunity to step away from their regular parish responsibilities and dedicate time to prayer, personal reflection and fraternity. It also offered space for them to reflect more deeply on their vocation and mission as priests. The theme of the retreat was “Be Still and Know That I Am God,” taken from Psalm 46:10. The theme invited the priests to become more attentive to God's presence and to draw renewed spiritual strength for their ministry. Bishop Johannes Gorantla of Kurnool expressed his appreciation to Fr. Cyril Das for guiding the retreat and thanked the participating priests for their commitment to spiritual renewal. At the conclusion of the five-day programme, the priests returned to their respective parishes with a renewed focus on their spiritual lives and pastoral responsibilities. The retreat highlighted the importance of ongoing spiritual formation for priests, helping them strengthen their relationship with God while continuing to serve their communities with renewed commitment.
